  • This is a large archive of photographs from the Library of Congress that can be searched by keyword.  The collections of the Farm Security Administration and the Office of War Information contain photographs of many events and aspects of American culture from the Depression years through the war.

  • During July 1942 American magazines featured the American flag on their covers to display loyalty and support of the war effort.  This is an online exhibition from the Smithsonian Museum about the campaign. Also featured is a selection of museum objects showing the use of the flag during the war.

  • The University of Arizona created this web site from its archives of photographs about the relocation of Japanese Americans during WW II.   • RUTGERS ORAL HISTORY ARCHIVE
    The "Rutgers Oral History Archives of World War II" is an enterprise to record the personal experiences of the men and women who served on the home front and overseas. It is based on in-depth interviews of individuals who lived through World War II, beginning with an initial target group of Rutgers College alumni and Douglass College alumnae (formerly, New Jersey College for Women).

  • VETERANS HISTORY PROJECT
    The Veterans History Project is a project of the Library of Congress aimed at collecting oral history interviews, memoirs, letters, diaries, photographs, and other original materials from veterans of World Wars I and II, and the Korean, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf Wars and the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts (2001-present). Those U.S. citizen civilians who were actively involved in supporting war efforts (such as war industry workers, USO workers, flight instructors, medical volunteers, etc.) are also encouraged to contribute their personal narratives. Members of the public become part of the Veterans History Project after they donate their materials.   This page also has a link to other veterans oral history projects.
