Blue Zone
Quest Network Blue Zones. Check the site for the next quest. Quest Network, Inc. creates interactive expeditions for audiences to explore the world around them, question what they find, then act to affect change. Through exploration, they provide cultural, environmental, and historical knowledge to empower our audiences.
Cyberteen Magazine
Created by teens and their teachers for international communication and collaboration.
An international magazine for middle school students. Students contribute stories, essays, artwork, and photos.
EarthShapes
Created to help kids exchange ideas and images through what are known as Place Capsules-- digital montages of words and pictures that express the unique relationship we have with our local landscapes.
Fermilab LinC
Leadership Institute Integrating Internet, Instruction and Curriculum provides projects and lesson plans by grade level.
Kids Internet Radio Project
This project gives students the instructional tools necessary to stream their own radio show.
KIDLINK
Supports world wide Internet projects directed towards "helping children understand themselves, identify and define goals for life, and collaborate with peers around the globe, individually or through school." Global Classroom is an effort by one school in implement the telecommunication goals inspired by Kidlink.
GeoGames
Opportunity for students to meet others around the world that are studying geography. Teams learn about the world as students study clues and guess locations. When a class wins an Instant GeoGame, they can view email greetings by teams that submitted the clues. Part of the Global School Net Foundation.

Holidays Around the World
Asks students to discuss their favorite celebrations. Students fill out a template and write an essay; may insert photos or drawings as well.
Journey North
Web-based project from the Annenburg Foundation that allows students to collect and share data on migrating species in North America.
Intracultural and Cross Cultural Portal
Part of this web site is CLOVER, an authoring tool that allows students to create their own short animations. The focus is on problems students face with peer pressure, making friends, etc. Products are posted online.
MyHERO.com
Educational web site that celebrates the best of humanity. Users may contribute their own stories about heroes in their lives. Browse the directory for brief biographies of famous individuals grouped by profession.
Surfaquarium's Digital Community of Authors
Ongoing project offers a place for student writers to publish their work. Editors of the site are available to provide constructive criticism on drafts.

Whyville is a safe and educational Web site for preteens and teenagers that focuses on inquiry-based education. The site has many areas and activities that allow "citizens" to explore, learn, create, and have fun. Requires registration.
